What do we mean by self-exploration?
When I discover who I am, I will be free.
Ralph Ellison
The above statement describes a feeling...a feeling of freedom, the one that comes by exploring the self. But before getting to that state of freedom, there's quite some working out to do - to understand, to learn and then to shed it all to unlearn as knowledge converts into living wisdom.
We believe strongly that for a community to not only survive but also to thrive we must focus our vital energy on the environment - internal (self) and external (world). Only in understanding the dynamics between the self and world can we live harmoniously for we are simply a reflection of each other.
We can get to this by exploring why we are the way we are, what are we really - (body, mind, spirit?), what are our values and beliefs, what we want to do, how to get there and so much more... There are many ways to explore the self. At Karunachal we do this through physical fitness, awareness (heartfulness and mindfulness) and living in harmony with our inner environment (mind, body, spirit) and outer environment (community).
We believe that only by questioning these things, time and again, can we experience true freedom and this is possible through observation of our mind-set, heart-set, health-set and spirit-set.
At Karunachal we do not preach and teach but rather ask you to seek and discover. When we explore our deepest values/strengths/beliefs we bring to surface a lot of confusion which leads to clarity, shapes our life and gets us closer to our best self while tapping into depths of our pure potential.
We usually base all our work backed by scientific research conducted by world class institutions and organisations even though most of what we discover now has been part of our ancient wisdom since forever. While we absolutely agree that research is great and necessary, (we are constantly researching too) we believe it is even better to translate our knowledge into wisdom through questioning, acting responsibily and by experiencing for ourselves, instead of only following/accepting what is said as the absolute truth.
