The United Nation’s Global Goals for Sustainable Development has 17 goals out of which Goal #13 is Climate Action. The goal is to take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts. Climate change is a real and undeniable threat to our entire civilization. The effects are already visible and will be catastrophic unless we act now. Through education, innovation and adherence to our climate commitments, we can make the necessary changes to protect the planet. These changes also provide huge opportunities to modernize our infrastructure which will create new jobs and promote greater prosperity across the globe. To make it possible to achieve this goal, 5 targets are laid out to create on-ground action.
The targets that we work towards are to enable youth to be more conscious and responsible future global citizens. We do this through projects that educate and spread awareness through workshops or retreats in 3 themed areas - self-exploration, environment-consciousness and responsible entrepreneurship.
While we understand the importance of working on each of the targets, at the outset we are focusing on the following:
Target: Improve education, awareness-raising and human and institutional capacity on climate change mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction and early warning.
How do we work on this?
1) Empower youth and adults with knowledge and practical tools to live more environment-conscious lives
2) Youth volunteers are trained on leadership skills to be environment champions in the community and given opportunities to practically explore and implement these skills
3) Themed camp modules are executed in collaboration with partner organisations that work with alternative experiential education tools. This provides exposure and widens knowledge base practically
4) Encourage people to start with small steps towards a more carbon positive lifestyle
